ICYMI: Michael Ealy’s “Intruder” Screening
BY ALEXIA CALHOUN
Maryland’s very own Michael Ealy stopped by on Monday for an early screening of his new movie “Intruder” followed by a Q&A! Now for those who don’t know, Michael Ealy was born and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland and graduated from the University of Maryland in the 90’s. He is most known for his roles in the movies: Barbershop, For Colored Girls, Think Like a Man, and About Last Night. His new thriller movie Intruder, featuring actress Meagan Good, is out in all theaters May 3rd.
UMD students were able to attend an early screening which was an absolutely amazing experience. The screening was then followed with a Q&A where Ealy answered fan’s questions ranging from “How are you able to play roles of many different personalities?” to “What’s your craziest fan experience?”. He explained how his hardest role to play was Beau Willie Brown in For Colored Girls because of the serious content. He says how his family was always there when he needed them, especially his mother, when he determined whether or not to accept the serious role. He wrapped up by asking about places on campus and expressing how shocked he was to find out that Stamp Student Union looks completely different than when he attended. Michael Ealy is such an inspiration to many young actors and actresses and we can’t wait until he comes back to his alma mater again.
